Split Cycles for Two Sperm Providers

Very often, both men in a gay couple will wish to be the genetic parents. To achieve this, RMA of New York’s embryologists will perform a split cycle IVF. For split cycles, both men provide sperm which will be used to create embryos that are genetically related to both individuals. At RMA of New York, our team of specialists will guide you through the process.

To begin a split cycle, RMA of New York works with you and your partner to select a known or unknown egg donor as well as a surrogate. Our egg donor program allows patients to easily access a full list of pre-screened donors who can help you conceive through a split cycle.

  • Step 1

Once we have worked with you to select an egg donor, the donor will undergo egg retrieval.

  • Step 2

Next, RMA of NY embryologists will divide the eggs into two groups within our full-service state-of-the-art laboratory. The first group will be fertilized with one partner’s sperm while the second group is fertilized by the second partner.

  • Step 3

An embryo created by each of the men’s sperm will then be transferred into the uterus of a gestational surrogate who will carry them to pregnancy.

RMA of New York specializes in helping hundreds of gay couples in the New York metropolitan area achieve their family building goals through personalized and compassionate care from our full-service, state-of-the-art laboratories conveniently located throughout the New York area.
